Instructor Information

Lizzie Houghton
East London, UK

Lizzie Houghton trained as a fashion designer and has always been a clothes maker. She now works almost exclusively hand-making felt and nuno felt, creating sumptuous coats and jackets, chic and frivolous hats and elegant scarves and accessories.

Lizzie's inspiration is often drawn from the natural world - she loves to use rich and vibrant colours and embellish with hand - dyed velvets, silks and vintage fabrics - to create luxuriant textural clothing in a very distinct, individual and sometimes theatrical style.

She lives in East London on the edge of Epping Forest, where she runs felt-making workshops from her studio there. She runs an annual Summer school in the far South-West of England, by the sea in Cornwall where she also spends much of her time. She is also in great demand to teach extensively across the UK. Following the success of her first book, Creative Felting, her much acclaimed book, Felting Fashion, was published in the Spring of 2009.

She exhibits widely throughout the UK and Europe.
